In late April 2009 three coloured pencils in primary colours were installed outside the Early Learning Centre at Seymour College’s junior school.
Rick made these three steel pencils, which are 3.5 metres tall and gratefully acknowledges the engineering assistance donated by Peter Cox of Cox Consulting Engineers.
To calculate the actual height of each coloured pencil Rick asked all of the junior school students to measure their red, yellow and blue pencils and then scaled-up the average of those results to make the steel pencils the height that they are.
Contrary to some comments, the colour scheme was not selected in honour of the Adelaide Crows. But it was a fun try anyway…

My sculpture ‘Construction 4′ is being exhibited at the Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition in Melbourne. It is located in the window of ’Mal Bradley Hair’, which is in the Toorak Place Arcade at 521 Toorak Road. There are 85 sculptures being exhibited this year, which is the 8th year of the sculpture festival.

K1 Winery is participating in The Fleurieu Biennale by hosting and exhibition of outdoor sculptures by eight Adelaide-area sculptors. Sixteen sculptures are located around the vines and lakes at beautiful K1 Winery
‘Sculpture at K1′ is open from 11am to 5pm daily and is located at K1 Winery, Tynan Road, Kuitpo, South Australia. Phone 08 8388-3700.
Sculptors exhibiting include Renate Nisi, Samantha Bell, Nicholas Uhlmann, Greg Johns, Margaret Worth, Jane Jutter, Sivana Angelakis, and Rick Clise.

Rick has very recently joined the Board of Management of NAVA, The National Association for the Visual Arts Ltd.
As the NAVA website explains, ‘NAVA is Australia’s peak body representing and advancing the professional interests of the Australian visual arts and craft sector. NAVA undertakes advocacy and lobbying, research, policy and project development, data collection and analysis. It also provides expert advice, resources, professional representation and development and a range of other services.’
Rick looks forward to representing the interests of artists, and contributing to the success of NAVA, as a Board member.
