'Translucent Monolith I' 2004

This piece was originally made as a 1/5th scale maquette for a piece to be 2.5m
(over 8') tall. It is made of regimented sizes of cut mild steel tubing, angle iron,
flat and rod. The pieces were semi-regularly placed in an expanding wooded
frame then welded together. As the piece grew in height the frame profile
changed to make the graduated indentation on the front and rear faces of the
piece. The front and back are vertical mirror images of each other.

The piece was finally sand blasted then spray painted. Even at maquette size the
piece is pretty weighty!

57x30x20 cm.
